youth with a mission

an international missionary organization

Youth With a Mission (YWAM) is the largest missions organization in the world with over 18,000 full-time staff and more than 1,000 operating locations across the globe. Founded in 1960, with a vision to introduce young people to missions and allow them to grasp God’s heart for the nations through short-term missions experiences, over 60 years later we have the privilege of witnessing the same founding vision being lived out every day around the world.

YWAM specializes in a 6-month missionary program, known as Discipleship Training School, which trains, equips, and sends short-term missions teams around the world. Kris & Christina have been on staff with and involved in Discipleship Training Schools with YWAM based in Hawaii and New Zealand for the past 13 years and led short-term teams to Asia, the Middle East, and beyond. They currently are apart of the following ministries listed on this page.

MObilization

& THE SEND

Kris serves in the YWAM Kona Mobilization department which helps create strategy for our 70+ ministries.  This department exists to serve our 700+ full times staff by developing out partnerships with other organizations and churches to create pipelines and on-ramps to see students trained, equipped, and sent into the mission field. We currently have over 1,200 students being trained yearly and are working towards a goal of 5,000 missionaries year.

THE SEND is a collaboration of several different ministries coming together with the purpose of activating believers to live a missional lifestyle by adopting and reaching real mission fields at home and abroad. This expression is a one day stadium experience, unto walking out as the body for greater impact through unity. YWAM is just one arm and our mobilization team serves THE SEND directly.

global initiatives

a YWAM initiative

The Global Initiatives Team seeks to support and facilitate holistic discipleship to the nations through the Christian Magna Carta. The Christian Magna Carta is YWAM’s central beliefs of every person on earth having the right to:

  • Hear the Gospel of Jesus

  • Have a Bible in their own language

  • Have access to fellowship in a local church

  • Have a Christian education available for their children

  • Have the basic necessities of life: food, water, clothing, shelter, and health care.

Kris and Christina were part of the team that helped pioneer Global Initiatives in 2019 and currently help implement the Christian Magna Carta in YWAM Kona’s focus nations, furthering the goal of every nation on earth hearing the Gospel of Jesus.
